The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 students who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of Key Stage 2. In 2019-20, Brockington College received an allocation of £15,000 to support students working below expected progress.
Please note that this report relates to an extraordinary and difficult year for schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The impact on our students eligible for catch-up funding has been considerable both emotionally and academically. Many of the planned interventions for 2019-20 ended abruptly or did not take place, and the impact on those that did take place needs to be considered in this light.
The planned previously highly successful intensive ‘catch-up literacy and numeracy days’ were not possible due to the pandemic.
This funding has now been discontinued.
