October & November 2019 Bulletin

“It was an honour to lead the Armistice Day ceremony at Brockington College on Monday 11 November. I was humbled by the respect and reverence that students demonstrated in their approach to such a significant event. This was one of the very few instances where the entire staff and student body is able to come together, in order to mark this occasion. Particular thanks need to go to our head boy and girl, Eddie and Anna, who conducted a reading as part of the ceremony and to Francesca who delivered a solo performance of the Last Post on the French horn. Thanks is also owed to the members of staff who helped to organise the event, namely Mr Barton, Mrs Walker, Mrs Ward and Mr McDonald. If anyone wanted to know about the values taught at Brockington College, or the respect that our students and members of staff hold for others, then our Armistice Day commemoration is a shining example of this work.”

Hear by Right Award Winner!

The Hear by Right award recognises our commitment to involving our pupils in what takes place at Brockington and how we develop as an organisation. This has been awarded by the National Youth Organisation who Mrs Ward has worked with since September 2018. Through this we have begun to create a pupil leadership team with our Ambassadors, that has a say in how we develop as a school.

This year we hope to continue this with new ways for our pupils to participate. As part of this, Mrs Ward had the privilege to attend a Youth Work Summit at Parliament last week and has been involved in the press release.

March 2019 Bulletin

“It was a real pleasure to watch the school production, ‘Seussical’ recently. I was amazed by the talent of our pupils and by the amount of pupils that were involved in this year’s performance. Great credit goes to all the cast and backstage crew, as well as to the members of staff that organised and supported the musical. Well done to all!

We are now in a vital preparation period for all Year 11 pupils, as they prepare for their GCSE examinations in only three school weeks! We know that Year 11 pupils respond differently to the forthcoming exams. Some pupils require the help of parents/carers to keep them calm and to encourage periods of relaxation alongside the revision. Some of our Year 11 pupils need your support in pushing them harder with their revision and in supporting them through asking exam-style questions.”
