Local Governance at Brockington College

The local governing board of Brockington College is currently the 23 trustees listed on the link above and below.  The standard term of office for a governor is four years and the chair and vice-chair are elected annually at the first meeting of each academic year.

The full governing board meets five times per year, however much of the work of the governing board is carried out by the following committees:

  1. Finance, Pay and Conditions Committee
    2. Leadership and Management Committee
    3. Pupil Development, Behaviour and Welfare Committee
    4. Pupil Outcomes Committee
    5. Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee

The Finance, Pay and Conditions Committee meets at least four times a year and all other committees meet at least three times a year.

Governing Boards have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
    2. Holding the Principal to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
    3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

In addition, the Governing Board of Brockington College ensures that the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum conducted in accordance with the principles, practices and tenets of the Church of England, both generally and particularly in relation to arranging for religious education and daily acts of spiritual reflection.

Since the formation of Embrace Multi Academy Trust on 1 April 2019, the chair of governors at Brockington College for the remainder of 2018-19 is Reverend Jerry Taylor, who may be contacted via the Clerk to Governors, Mrs Louise Nixon, at Brockington College, Blaby Road, Enderby, Leicestershire, LE19 4AQ.
