‘Brockingale’ testing centre

Our amazing staff team at Brockington College have built, set up and are now running a coronavirus testing for staff and students attending on site!

You will no doubt be aware that schools and colleges across the country are beginning to test those without coronavirus symptoms using new, quicker tests know as ‘lateral flow devices or LFDs’.   Alongside other protective measures we are taking, testing will help to ensure that the school environment is as safe as possible for all students and staff.  Government data states that up to one third of people who have coronavirus are asymptomatic. By testing, we will help to reduce the spread in school.

We are very proud to have carried out over 300 tests in just one week!  This has all been achieved alongside setting up quality learning processes for all students, in all year groups, across the school, whether attending critical worker / vulnerable provision in school or learning from home!

Please note that this process is only to test those who are asymptomatic. Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 should not attend the school site and should attend a community coronavirus test centre for a PCR test.

" I would like to pay tribute to the staff who have worked tirelessly to set up the 'Brockingale Centre' in double quick time, as well as those who are now staffing the centre. Our multi-talented site team, did look a little bewildered when we described to them what was needed. They said it would take them at least a week; however they worked tirelessly to successfully build an eight booth test and process centre, from scratch, in just four days! Dedicated admin and technical staff, across a number of departments, have flexibly taken on new roles and are now staffing the test centre on a daily basis. Members of staff volunteered, carried out training and have quickly adapted to their new roles, which include supervising that the tests are carried out correctly by staff and students, processing the swabs and then uploading the results to the national database." Well done 'Team Brockingale'!
