Mathematics

All our pupils follow the National Curriculum. This includes work on Number, Algebra, Proportion and Rates of Change, Geometry & Measure, and Probability & Statistics. There is an emphasis on problem solving and understanding mathematics. The pupils use a variety of resources, which are matched to their ability. ICT resources are used widely by teachers in lessons.
At GCSE pupils follow the AQA GCSE Mathematics (specification 8300) at either Foundation or Higher tier. Those pupils at Higher tier follow either the Higher strand, focussed at grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 or the Higher+ strand focussed at grades 6, 7, 8 and 9. Pupils have access to supporting material through the college’s Moodle site and the MyMaths and Kerboodle websites.
